About Us

Minimize

From its humble beginnings on the old Mayes Lane car park, with 2 hard courts, a garden shed for a clubhouse and no toilets, Danbury Tennis Club has evolved into a friendly, thriving club with over 300 members. Nestling in the delightful National Trust area of Danbury and surrounded by a wonderfully open outlook, it’s an idyllic place to meet friends and enjoy both friendly and highly competitive games of tennis.

The club is owned and managed by a committee of its members assisted by a small team of professional staff. There are regular social events, which are enthusiastically supported by members both young and old, especially our stay and play BBQs, the last Friday of each month from May to September. The whole family is welcome. We also have ample free car parking facilities in Mayes Lane, behind the Sports and Social Centre, a stones throw from the courts.

We have 5 Floodlit tennis courts (3 Astro Turf and 2 Tarmac). New members of all standards are always welcome. The club offers a full programme of social and competitive tennis for both juniors and adults along with access to high quality coaching facilities. Oh and nowadays we have toilets as well as a bar, a kitchen and a nice lounge.

Why not come along to a club night, Wednesday 6.30pm till 9.00 or club morning Sunday 10.00 am until 12 pm and try us out we’d love to meet you.

Exciting News

We have now taken possession of the other half of the clubhouse that was formerly occupied by the Parish Council. Currently we have a lease for the next 10 years. Moves are being made to enable entry from within the current clubhouse. This will have been completed in time for the Christmas Tournament. In the short term a table tennis table and equipment will be available for members to use. The committee would welcome suggestions from members as to how the this new space could be used for the benefit of the club and its members in the long term.
